The Nudge: I’ve Been Style Nudged…As a style blogger, I nudge other people, but that doesn’t mean I don’t get nudged myself.
I recently went to a book signing for Alyson Walsh’s new book “Know Your Style”, and she was wearing a beautiful black sequined maxi skirt. It looked so chic, and weirdly, for sequins, so effortless. She paired it with a blue and white striped top and silver flats. I loved it so much. That next day, …
I went onto Postmark, a great second-hand website, and searched for a black sequined maxi skirt. Believe it or not, I actually found one in my exact size! What are the odds of that? And even more surprisingly, the price was right. I wanted to wear it in that same casual way that Alyson had worn it. By wearing it like this, the skirt felt even more special.
I had a birthday party to attend a couple of weeks later and I decided to wear it. It wasn’t a dressy party, so it felt like the perfect occasion to try my hand at dressing down sequins. After a few different outfit combinations, I decided to pair it with my husband’s denim shirt, a leopard jacket, my comfy velvet slides, and one of my vintage evening bags. I received quite a few compliments that night and didn’t feel overdressed at all.
Because of it’s versatility, I know I will be wearing this sequined skirt a lot through through the years. It’s a not-so-basic basic that anyone can look good in. So, thank you Alyson for the Style Nudge!
