Start the New Year off with a fresh look… Pattern on Pattern. This outfit has a little bit of everything – leopard, brown plaid, gold print blouse, brown silver-buckle belt, denim, patchwork booties and pop of orange.
Putting a pattern on pattern outfit together is simpler than it looks. I have a lot of prints and patterns in this look, so if you are new to mixing prints start with just two items. Try black and white. They are the easiest colors to work with when combining patterns.
Prints should contrast in at least two ways – color and scale. Stay with similar color tones like the brown, tan and gold tones in the three items above. Put a large pattern (leopard) with a small pattern (plaid), and then throw a random print in the mix (gold pattern blouse). Anchor your look with denim (flared jeans). And, if you want a pop of color just add a complimentary tone (orange handbag).

**Oh, if you are wondering what the distracting little round spots are on the photos – it was lightly snowing when we did this post, droplets on the lense.
