Ever since I was a child, after watching “The Wizard of Oz” over and over, I have wanted a pair of Dorothy shoes. When Kate Spade came out with her red glitter “Licorice” heels, I thought why not make my own?! So, I took an old pair of dog-bitten Via Spiga patent leather heels that I rarely wore and “Dorothied” them.
All you need is red glitter, Mod Podge glue, paint brush and hairspray. It helps to put tissue or a soft rag inside the shoe to protect the inside of the shoe. It was so easy to do and it only took me about a half an hour. I let them dry for 24 hours just to be sure the glitter was set and then sprayed them with hairspray to seal them (you can also use clear laquer). I love how they turned out. Isn’t it amazing what a little red glitter and glue can do? The problem now is I’m looking for anything and everything to glitter.
All I need now is a yellow brick road!
