My blogger friend, Sheela Goh, recently asked me to be part of her regular feature “Project Sister Act” on her blog, Sheela Writes.
Sheela started “Project Sister Act” to highlite the fact that regardless of one’s age we can all be stylish, no matter the color or accents chosen. So this month’s theme is, you guessed it, seeing RED. CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE
Today marks the launch of the first annual Fierce 50 Campaign. As women over 50, we are coming together in a supportive collaborative community to honor and celebrate one another and to share with the world what it means to be a woman at midlife and beyond. Through this collaboration, each woman has developed a unique bond with their blog partners, opening their hearts and sharing their stories. In building authentic connections and relationships, we are forming a community of women who have within them over a century of life experience and wisdom to share. We are joining together as one to begin shifting a worldwide perception of this demographic. We are here to show the world how powerful we are together and that we are only truly just beginning.

I was so very lucky to be paired with Jamie, from MORE THAN TURQUOISE. If you don’t already know about Jamie’s style blog, you are really missing out. She is very talented. Her attention to detail is just part of what makes her style so impeccable. Her outfits always have the perfect accessories, and WOW does she have some beautiful shoes, bags and jewelry!
I was fortunate to personally meet Jamie at a style conference in NYC. It’s so nice to meet a fellow blogger in person, especially one that you have admired and one that has such spot-on style. We have found that we have several things in common – we both love the hunt of finding that great piece at a resale or vintage shop, mixing high end with low end, classic with trendy, and we both LOVE the art of dressing.
Jamie lives in and LOVES anything from the Southwest, such as a great pair of cowboy boots, jeans with a fabulous concho belt, a crisp white shirt, and, of course, as much turquoise as possible! Which brings up the name of her blog, “More Than Turquoise”, which was inspired by her love of all shades of turquoise. Jamie’s southwestern style touches are part of what makes her style so unique. But, as she says, “Southwestern style is more than turquoise (her turquoise collection is to die for by the way!). I think people have a mis-conception about Southwestern style, that we typically just wear cowboy hats and broom stick skirts. And YES, I have these items in my closet but I don’t wear them every day. They’re just a small segment of my wardrobe.”
Jamie has a fashion background in menswear. She understands the importance of how a mens’ suit should fit, how long a dress shirt sleeve should be, where the break in the slack of the pant on the shoe needs to fall, and that a man’s belt and shoes should match. She also volunteers helping male students dress for their job interviews. And, like me, she loves to borrow from the boys and regularly shops in her husband’s closet.
Jamie has collaborated with many different brands, such as being featured in Chicos 2016 Holiday campaign. She has also done a weekly fashion segment on her local FOX station, and has been voted best blogger in her city! She has been blogging for about four years and has recently updated her blog to include other categories beyond style – Travel, Beauty and Home. She is also excited and “giggly” about eventually selling different products on her site.
She is thrilled to be part of The Fierce 50 Campaign, but like me, feels strongly that style is ageless. As Jamie has aged she is less critical of herself and feels very comfortable in her own skin, and I couldn’t agree more! Make sure to pop over to Jamie’s blog, More Than Turquoise, to see much more of her Fierce style!

Orange Crush…I’ve had a crush on the color orange for a long time. I just love how unexpected it is.
Many people shy away from wearing any orange, but there is no reason to be afraid of wearing it. Start small, like a pair of earrings or a scarf, and if you like it go bigger.
Move over Red, because orange is quietly sneaking up on you as the new power color. CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE
The Nudge: Today is a Comfy Grey Day. What is it about the color grey? It’s one of my favorite colors, and because it goes with about every color I find myself pairing it with everything. Grey is the mellow form of black. It’s casual, easy, laid-back, relaxed and unassuming.
So when you feel like taking things in stride… wear grey. CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE
