I wanted to share with you the wonderful day I had at Chicos in NYC on Saturday. My friend and fellow style blogger, Eugenia from The Age of Grace came up with the idea for a blogger meetup several months ago and worked very hard for months to put it all together. She’s the one in the black dress and fierce red booties. Congratulations Eugenia, it was a huge success! CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE
The Nudge: How do you marry the end of summer fashions with early fall styles? Try a little casual elegance with a Maxi Dress. It’s so easy – one piece to put on and it’s instant chic. Add a leather jacket and a pair of great boots to finish, and your ready to go. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention my vintage fur muff. I collect vintage muffs and often add a strap of some sort to make them into a functional handbag. The muff isn’t an essential wardrobe piece, but a Maxi Dress certainly is!
The Nudge: Lions And Tigers And Bears, Oh My… When I saw this tiger embroidered faux suede jacket, I thought it was a bit over the top, but very cool at the same time. It is part of Bob Mackie’s “Wearable Art” collection. I volunteer as a stylist for Dress For Success, and all of our clothes are donated, but many are not appropriate for work attire, so when I saw this I just had to have it. I don’t own any Bob Mackie, but now I do… CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE
The Nudge: Vintage Incorporated…How do you incorporate vintage into your wardrobe? My personal guideline is to always mix vintage items with current pieces. Such as this outfit.
My canvas is all current fashion, the faux Gucci tee shirt, the army pants and the funky sandals. I then layered on top of that base a few vintage pieces, like this silk Japanese kimono smoking jacket, woven handbag and jewelry. There are many layers to this outfit – vintage mixed with current, dressy paired with casual, and a graphic tee. But, all the pieces work together to form a stylish look.
One thing is for sure, no one else will be wearing what you wear if you add a little vintage! CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE
